Eliezer Weishoff

Eliezer Weishoff was born in Jerusalem in 1938. As a sculptor, he has had pieces installed throughout Israel, including a mural high relief at the Ben Gurion Airport and monuments in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv and Rishon le Zion. He has also designed for two museums - the Etzel Museum and the House of Bialik Museum. Additionally, He has been a successful designer with commissions from the Bank of Israel, the Israeli Government Coins and Medals Corporation, The Israeli Ministry of Tourism, the United Nations, and El Al.

 Israeli Postal Authority

This is a 1966 poster that Eliezer Weishoff designed for the Israeli Postal Authority. Replicas of 5 stamps on the theme of road safety (also designed by Weishoff?) are presented as part of a fan, the spokes of which are held together by a string attached to the tag announcing the first day of issue. A very clever design that resembles those of Abram Games who worked with the Israel Postal Authority in the mid-50s. The poster is in very fine condition with two repaired tears and a small fold in the upper left edge.

dimensions: height - 38 1/2"; width - 27 1/4"

Price: $600.00

 Israeli Poster

Eliezer Weishoff designed this poster to advertise the type of an event commonplace in Israel - a meeting that brings groups from outside the country to meet and mingle with Israelis. This one held in 1965 was for youths who came from cities in Israel and elsewhere that had been twinned together. The style of the poster is reminiscent of designs brought by Abram Games to Israel when he worked with the Israel Postal Authority in the mid-50s, and is quite different from Weishoff's later posters. A large gold key, presumably of welcome, with black outline (a device used by Rouault and German expressionists) floats on a royal blue background. Sans serif lettering in French, English and Hebrew announces the get together and its date. The poster is in fine condition with one small repaired tear on right edge and small in-painted areas on gold of the key near top of poster.

 Poster - Jerusalem

To celebrate the upcoming 10th anniversary of Jerusalem's reunification, Eliezer Weishoff created this striking poster with its bright colors and highly stylized view of Jerusalem landmarks. Published in 1976 (printer A. Yarom, Ltd.) during a period of peace, Weishoff included a flock of doves flying over the old city. Backed with linen, the poster's condition is very good with various small tears and scrapes and corner pinholes repaired.

 Poster - Tiberias

We have been to Lake Kinneret and Tiberias many times and frankly it never looked as good as in this Ministry of Tourism Office poster. The very successful design by Eliezer Weishoff really does entice one to visit and enjoy the many pleasures of the Galilee. Printed by the Survey of Israel in 1984; backed with linen and in excellent condition. The poster will be shipped rolled up in a sturdy tube.
