This poster is of historical interest, since it touches on the problems facing British Jewry in the early 30’s. While anti-semitism was more virulent on the continent of Europe, England also suffered from the plague; and we can surmise from the special invitation to “young men and women” that English Jewry had problems attracting the young to their synagogues even then. The poster, backed onto linen, is in surprisingly good condition considering that it was printed onto very poor paper; but there are problems. The original fold marks are still visible; there is a small loss on the upper right corner; and there are a number of small chips and tears around the edges. A wonderful sociological piece of English epemera.
