Bring your message to the post office before noon and it will be delivered overnight, at least that is what the Israeli Post Office promises in this attractive early (1952) poster. The designer’s name, Wallish (1903-1977), appears in the lower right corner. Wallish was born in the Sudentenland of prewar Czechoslovakia and emigrated to Palestine in 1934. He designed a number of posters for the Post Office in addition to his work for other commercial companies. He was involved in designing Israel’s first postage stamps, the well known ancient coins set, and the symbol for the Post Office, the prancing deer also seen in this poster. The poster is linen backed and is in excellent condition.
