Jean David designed this mid-20th c. poster for the Israeli Government Tourist Corporation. A stylized image of a pleasantly green Mount Zion located behind the Montefiore windmill is placed onto a bright yellow field. Presumably, once tourists arrive in Jerusalem they will not recall that the actual scene is quite different. The artist’s signature is printed in red just below the image. The lithograph printing was done by Lewin-Epstein Ltd., Tel Aviv. Condition – the poster, backed onto acid-free linen, is bright and clean with two small (approx. 1″) repaired tears, one on the lower margin, the other on the upper; there are other small repairs around the margins and a skillfully repaired area (approximately 2 1/2″ long) just to the right of the word Israel.
height – 38 1/4″; width – 25 5/8″
