We have another poster on this site published by the JNF (the American affiliate of the KKL) with the related theme of a young boy hugging a pine tree. In this case, however, the boy is dressed as a soldier wearing a helmet with a few twigs for camouflage, and the tree trunk is in the shape of his combat boots. Within the tree are vignettes of soldiers in maneuvers and individuals camping in the forests. The text above and below states, “The forest is a shield for you. Protect the forest”. The KKL, which has labored so long to plant these forests, is whimsically reminding the citizenry of Israel that their forests not only provide pleasure but may be important to the defense of the state. The text on the lower left edge indicates that the publisher is the KKL. The poster, which is backed onto acid-free linen, has barely visible ink marks that have bled from the rear; traces of former folds remain; and there is age staining on the white paper background.
