David Harel’s color lithograph provides a highly impressionistic view of a snow covered Jerusalem from Mount Zion looking east toward the Mount of Olives and the Intercontinental hotel. To the right is the City of David, to the left the Old City walls and the el Aksa mosque. The artist invokes the history and magic of Jerusalem by subtly including throughout faint images of old coins and seals, various symbols and Hebrew letters and texts. The sacred city is silently blanketed by the snow of winter and the mystery of tradition. Snow is infrequent in Jerusalem, but is enjoyed for that reason The lithograph printer’s proof, pencil signed in Hebrew and English, is in pristine condition and will be sent in an acid free mat.
