Shortly after the Second World War, Ben Shahn executed a number of labor posters, with this one of the more powerful. A man surrounded by signs as at a demonstration is presumably declaiming the words of the poster title: for all these rights we’ve just begun to fight. The lithographic poster was published in 1946 by the Political Action Committee of the CIO (which would soon merge with the A.F. of L. to become the AFL-CIO) to urge its union members to vote in the coming elections. In the lower right corner is a small seal to verify that the printing job was done in a union shop. The poster, which is backed onto linen, is in excellent condition and will be shipped rolled in a cardboard tube.
