The Jewish War Veterans, Skokie Post 328 sponsored the Circus Vargas for 10 days, 28 performances. (Skokie is a suburb of Chicago with a large Jewish community.) The circus provided this poster card that presumably indicates some of the wonders the audience will see – horses, elephants and camels being ridden by barely clad women and men dressed in oriental style; and positioned above all a lion and a Roman Centurion. The colorful image is printed on card stock. The date is unknown, though the style suggests the second half of the 1900’s. Circus Vargas is no longer in operation. The poster is in excellent condition with a light time stain and slightly stressed corners.
