Here are two pieces, a black-and-white relief print of a street scene (perhaps in Vitebsk) and a preparatory water color sketch for that print. A street wanders up a hill past a backyard with its hanging wash line, a stone building on one side, a shop and old wood buildings on the other and what appears to be a church based on the onion dome that disappears at the edge of the image. The print mirrors the sketch since the printing process reverses the image. This wonderful pair conveys the process through which Yudovin went to prepare the final print. Struck initialed both pieces in pencil; the print is numbered. (sketches, prints)
print image size – 4 3/4″ x 3″; sketch sheet – 8 1/4″ x 5 1/2″.
