This poster announces the revival of an older famous musical comedy with the copy, The greatest sensation in 25 years. Oscar Green producer; the two greatest star comics, Aaron Lebedeff and Pesachke (Paul) Burshtain in Aaron Lebedeff’s musical sensation Liovka Malodietz. The show started its run on May 7, 1951, at the Lincoln Theater, Philadelphia with Simon Wolf, (?) Adler, Leon Shachter and Henrietta Jacobson. A famous play, it had been written and performed years earlier by Lebedeff, who consented to appear together with the younger Burshtain, the director of the troupe. Burshtain wrote about this production in his autobiography; perhaps because Lebedeff had arguably been the most famous American Yiddish musical comedy performer and composer (Together with Shalom Secunda he had written Roumania, Roumania and What Can You Do, It’s America.) Or perhaps this production was important to him since his wife, who usually co-starred in his productions, was pregnant at the time with twins.
The poster (44″ x 28″) is in Yiddish and English; the condition is excellent with no tears or repairs anywhere and only the usual fold marks.
